☞ Following are some sustainable development initiatives :

- Bio-degradable bag –
• Initiated was taken by Mr Avasth Hedge.
• an eco-friendly alternative of plastic bags.
• dissolve in hot water and decompose in natural environment.
- Edible cutlery –
• Initiative was taken by Narayana Peesapaty.
• An eco-friendly alternative of plastics spoons, forks, etc.
• made out of grains. (these spoons can be eaten and even if they are not eaten they will
easily decompose in the soil enriching it).
- Kulhads –
• initiative was taken by Ministry of Railways in Varanasi and Raibareilly.
• eco-friendly alternative of plastic and paper cups.
• made by clay.
Three major advantages gained by using ‘Kulhads’ are to
a. reduce cutting of tree for making paper cups.
b. job creation for potters, which contributes to economy.
c. reduce plastic waste.
