☞ It is a What-If Analysis tool.
☞ It helps to create different target-based "what-if" analysis.
☞ It is a model wherein changes in the original data set are made by the user to analyze the changes in the possible outcome.
☞Lets see an example to understand this.
Step 1: Select the cells that contain the values which will change between scenarios.
Step 2: Tools Menu → Scenarios option
Step 3: Type a name for the new scenario. This name will be displayed on the title bar of the scenario on the worksheet itself. → OK
It is also optional to select or deselect the options in the ‘Settings’ section. Following options are there in ‘Settings’ section.
Display border : To border the range of cells with color.
Copy back : If you do not select this option, the saved scenario values are never changed when you make changes. It depends on the cell protection.
Copy entire sheet : It adds to your document a sheet that permanently displays the new scenario in full.
Prevent changes : It prevent changes to a Copy back - enabled scenario when the sheet is protected but the cells are not.
Step 4: Repeat the steps to create another Scenario.
